Last night I went to a drawing session at the Dansmuseet- (Dance Museum). Between 80 and 100 people sat expectantly around a rectangular dance floor. A young dancer appeared and started to dance; after a while she held a position, announced how long she would stay there for and everyone got to work drawing. Then she would dance a bit more and do the same thing again. This went on for 45 minutes followed by a break and another 45 minutes. Brilliant! It was really nice to be drawing with so many other people, and the air of concentration was palpable. Here are a few of my sketches. The poses were all five minutes or less. The last one is of objects in the museum collection.
Hi Charlotte, some very nice sketches there, I would have found it very difficult but would have loved to be involved, a great idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat sketches, and you must have had a great time!
ReplyDeleteLovely sketches, and what a fun way to do figure drawing. I wish there was something like this near here.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea, you've drawn some unusual positions very well!
ReplyDeleteYou were able to capture some difficult poses here! Excellent. When I scroll down it's almost as though I am seeing a dance.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super opportunity to sketch - and you have made such an intersting series of drawings.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it would be fun to attend! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't have thought it would be too hard to set up something similar- like a lifedrawing class but with a dancer as the model...
